Happy New Year!

My Happy New Year is very belated, isn't it? :)

Can't believe my last post was over two years ago. I have been meaning to write more frequently, but life gets away from you and time flies by before you know it. I actually remember the last day of December 2014 quite clearly, because Edwin, Cookie, and I rushed to catch the first sunrise of the new year on the Lincoln Memorial steps. I remember us getting very little sleep after playing an intense White Elephant game with friends and watching the Times Square ball drop. We got to the Lincoln Memorial steps by 6 AM and giggled at the people next to us who looked more like blanket mummies bundled up in numerous layers. However, we soon realized how little prepared we were as we waited...and waited...and waited for the sun to peek over the trees and over the Washington Monument.

Nearly two hours later, the sky had brightened with the warm sun and we took that grateful opportunity to snap as many photos as we could before returning home. Our fingers and toes were painfully numb from the cold. Our poor 35 pound dog refused to sit on the frozen steps and insisted on getting in (and staying in) our laps. But Edwin and I smile about how it was all worth it, because it made that new year and that site very, very special to us.

Some photos from New Year 2015:

What also made that day memorable was our get-together in the evening with beloved friends and enjoying homemade traditional Korean rice cake soup together! (In Korea, the tradition is to have 'dduk-gook' or literally "rice cake soup" on New Years Day to welcome the new year and turn one year wiser.)
Edwin and I brought the sheep cake, because 2015 was the Year of the Sheep.
The then newly-engaged A&J couple hosted everyone at their place. We are thankful for such awesome friends!
The selfie stick was very "in" and it came in super handy the following months for birthdays and more hangouts...
Last, but not least...the family photo! Our first, but definitely not our last. This get-together inspired a tradition of taking a group picture in the beginning of every year. Excited to see how all of us will continue to grow!

Happy (Almost) New Year!

It has been one helluva year. Since post-college, almost every year was a growing one, but 2014 in particular has had its wild share of blessings and trials. I am thankful for all of it. I've met some incredible people, established genuine friendships, made indelible memories, and learned through challenging experiences that have brought me here--a little bit older and hopefully equally wiser. It wouldn't have been possible without you all. Thank you for being a part of it!

The Start Line

This blog is dedicated to counting the blessings in my mid-twenties and beyond. Great friends, traveling, books, sermons, cooking, and more are joys that continuously motivate and challenge me to see the silver lining in all things gray. Here is to a running start of living with intention, listening to my inner voice, taking the leap of faith, being a lifelong learner, and loving with abandon--wherever the finish line may be.
